China's WVAS Market: The Impact of 3G

BDA forecasts China's wireless value-added service (WVAS) market will grow from RMB 98 billion (USD 12.5 billion) in 2007 to RMB 277 (USD 35.3) billion in 2012, a 5-year CAGR of 23%. BDA forecasts that the mobile music market will be worth RMB 27 billion (USD 3.4 billion) in 2008, and RMB 57 billion (USD 7.3 billion) by 2012. China's mobile game market sustained strong growth in 2007, with a market size of RMB 696 million (USD 88.8 million) and is forecasted to reach RMB 4.6 billion (USD 580.4 million) in 2012. Mobile operators continue to dominate the WVAS value chain and take the lion's share of WVAS revenues. They have aggressive plans in WVAS promotion to combat declining voice ARPU.
